THE DETAILS

Ever wondered where “John (or Jon) boats” got their name, or what a float on the Upper White River was like prior to the creation of Table Rock Lake? Grab your gig or favorite fly rod and join us as we learn about the history of ecotourism on our Ozark streams and why recreation is vital to the future of our waterways.

JRBP’s Executive Director, Brent Stock, will take us on a tour of the James and White Rivers and introduce us to a host of colorful characters, including Jim Owen, Ozark Ripley, and Charlie Barnes. We’ll discuss how outdoor recreation shaped the Ozarks, the impacts of tourism, and the importance of maintaining this connection with our forests and streams.
