Through independent research and funding from various federal, state, and foundational grants, JRBP and partners produce written plans & reports to guide action within our watershed.

James River Watershed Management Plan

Goals of the Watershed Management Plan:

  1. Improve the quality of waters within the James River basin that are listed as impaired.

  2. Guide the implementation of future programs and practices in ways that address impairments most efficiently and effectively.

  3. Provide direction for multiple agencies, organizations, and political entities as they apply measures to improve water quality.

Working with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), JRBP helps to create basin wide plans to most effectively improve the water quality in our local rivers. These plans take into consideration our many and varied stakeholders as well as the challenges that our rivers face.
