It’s time for our watershed-wide snapshot sampling event! Every three years dozens of volunteers help us pull off a big research project where we sample approximately 70 sites in 4 hours. The samples are then taken to a laboratory and tested for E. coli, pH, conductivity, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, and chlorides. The results are analyzed and compared to previous years, compiled in a report, and presented to participants in the fall.
To take so many samples in a short period of time, we need more volunteers! You’ll be assigned 1-2 sites and have a specific time window to collect your samples. At the stream you’ll take the temperature of the water and collect a water sample in provided bottles. We’ll have a runner stationed nearby to collect the samples from you, and they’ll take the samples to the lab. Want to take part?
