Join the James River Basin Partnership’s AmeriCorps VISTA member and geologist Cecilia Kayser for fossil hunting and identification at Busiek State Forest.
Drop in for our come and go event searching for fossils along the bank of Camp Creek. From 10:30 - 11:15 A.M. Cecilia will lead a short hike around the park.
Park in the main parking lot for Busiek and follow the sign pointing straight to the creek. We’ll look on the banks for fossils with the option of looking in the creek for fossils, so dress accordingly.
Registration is not required, but encouraged to receive email updates if there are changes or cancellations due to weather. A reminder and detailed maps will be emailed before the event.
Experience the Outdoors events are JRBP-hosted under the umbrella of the 100 Hours Outdoors program, which encourages children and families to spend time outdoors during summer break.
